Dear Everyone,
This week and a half was really good! So much has happened, there have been some pretty awesome miracles lately!
I was the pianist at 2 funerals this last week, and it was pretty cool/ interesting to see the difference in being at members funerals, and nonmembers funerals. The member's funeral was nice. It was short and sweet, and had a good hopeful feel.
The next day we went to a nonmember's funeral. My companion, the Bishop, and I, plus one less active member were the only members at the funeral. We had to sing really loud so everyone else got the tune.
There was a lot of devastated criers who spoke, and who seemed quite hopeless, and they were very up and down throughout the service. memorable experience. The Less active Dude's wife has been investigating the church for 3 years, and is keeping all the commandments, the only thing is that she live in a too far out country town in Victoria for missionaries to come see her. But she told us that she made it one of her goals to be baptized this year, so it was a good opportunity to talk to different people. Also there was a prisoner at the funeral that was hand cuffed to the guard. So yeah, interesting crowd!
We also had J's Baptism! It turned out very well, and we had a good turn out from the ward. I was privileged to baptize her. She is such an amazing lady. she just has so much desire to do the right thing.
We went on exchanges with a few different Elders this week. I was with Elder Paialii from Samoa for one, and Elder Cluff from Idaho. Elder Paialii and I found a new family this last week from tracting, and it was funny because we found this family right after we literally had a door slammed in our faces. probably the 3rd time in my year and a half. It's a single mum with 2 boys. one of her sons got hit by a train last year and pretty much broke every bone in his body, but he is somehow alive. Elder Paialii is the man, he is one of the most humble people I know, and so whenever he said anything to anyone throughout the whole day, people were intrigued.
Things are going well though! I love being in this ward! I feel like I'm becoming a resident here. I spoke and played piano in sacrament meeting, and I played piano for Primary, and then at the multistake musical fireside our stake president called me up to tell everyone why I came on a mission. So yeah, I feel like I'm just part of the ward! hahaah.
I learned this week about how important it is to be humble in the work. I look to Elder Paialii as an example, because he is a convert, the only convert in his family, and he gave up his working for a living for his family to serve the Lord. I want to be like that! I want to be willing to "drop my net" and "Follow Him"
Love you family/ friendsand anyone inbetween!
Love Elder Beeson
