Shark Attacks, Rain Storms, Egyptian Orthodox, My Spanish Stinks!

Dear family and friends,
WHAT A WEEK!!! Far out this week was awesome!! I'm not sure where to even start!

We went on exchanges with the Geraldton Elders for a few days, that was a treat, because Elder Impas is the phillipino Version of my brother Jack! hahah he had the funniest sense of humor, but was really quiet about it. It was awesome.

On Friday we were tracting and we met this Egyptian Orthodox Christian lady named I. She looks south American but she's Egyptian. Anywho, we got a return appointment in the next morning, and so we came back with an Arabic Book of Mormon, and she fed us sweet potato! haha She's the coolest! We also caught up with our Banglidesh investigators on Saturday, they are really excited to come to  church this next Sunday! super excited for that!

On Sunday apparently there was a shark attack IN OUR AREA!!!!!!!! It was off of Mindarie beach, apparently this 60 year old lady was diving with her diving friend, and a great white ate her! so sad! :( the great white was 5.3 meters long, that's like 18 feet long!!!!!!!! My goodness gracious.

On Monday we tracted for 4 hours and found 1 potential haha! It was this Japanese rugby player, but he said he was super keen to learn more and come to church. Nice! We had a dinner at the C's with Brother G. Sister C is the best, she always makes super American food to make me feel at home ;) She made Jumbalaya with corn bread and it was awesome!!

Now Tuesday and Wednesday, the past two days have been pretty miracle packed, and awesome! So we exchanged with the Balcatta Elders, it was raining sooooooo hard the entire day. But yeah I was with Elder Collings, and we went to I's house, we couldn't go in because her husband wasn't home, so she brought out some chairs for us to sit on while the rain was coming down, she gave us some biscuits, and then she went inside, for a while and we both thought that she was making us some tea or coffee or something, so we were discussing how we could reject it in the nicest way possible! haha but it turns out she was just chilling inside, she just gave us those chairs and biscuits to have so we could wait out the storm! haha So we literally waited for like 25 minutes.

Then we tried a potential Elder Matautia and I found 2 transfers ago named S, she is a Chilean lady with a massive house, she let us in her little patio thing, and we had a really good talk with her, she really wanted us to come back, I spoke a little bit of Spanish to her, but I'm so bad haha but yeah it was still awesome. Then we had to drop the other elders off at a teaching appointment. Elder Tutton and Elder Parry taught someone Elder Tutton tracted into last week, who is suuuuuuuper duper keen. She said that she has been waiting for Mormon missionaries to knock on her door, and she has 4 kids, is MARRIED ( that's the real miracle) and she and her husband want to join the church!!! how amazing!! There are a few other minor things that happened on that day but that was the cool stuff from Tuesday.

Then yesterday, oh man, it was awesome!!!!!! We were texting just about every single person in the ward to ask if they could come and teach with us this lady that Elder Tutton and Elder Parry found on exchanges the day before. Last minute brother A said he could come. So we went there, and we met this lady, her name is N, she is a former JW, but is really in need of a change in her life because she has been in an abusive relationship for a long time, so yeah, we taught her, and she is soooooo excited to get to know a new community, because from her point of view, she really wants to come back to church because she knows it's right and that it'll help her, but she doesn't want to go to the kingdom hall! But yeah she has been pretty dang prepared.
Later that day, we visited a pretty ambiguous referral that we got from Sister G  the day before. She told us to go visit this south American family, so we knocked on the door and this Peruvian man named E answered the door, he let is in straight away ( my goodness if I served in south America, I would love it ;0 ) We started talking and he was really nice, but then all the sudden, he got a call from his wife, and he had to go pick her up, so he told us to come back in 20 minutes. So we tracted for a bit and met a solid potential from Malaysia, then we came back and he let us in again, I was intrigued by their piano, and then I told them that I play, so I played for them, and they loved it! Elder Tutton and I also spoke a little bit of Spanish to him, but we stunk haha! Then E's daughter played for us a song she made up it was really good actually, then E just started asking us questions, he asked us about the Book of Mormon, and then we ended up teaching pretty much the entire Restoration. He was in awe because he has been a catholic his whole life, but he hasn't really believed it, and everything we taught him lined up with what he has believed his whole life, like he believes that the godhead is three separate beings, and he also believes that god speaks to all of his children, needless to say, we have a return appointment with him and he is ALSO married and has 4 kids baptismal age!

We've been finding some solid families this week!! What a blessing it is to serve up here. I honestly never want to leave this area, I want to finish my mission in Merriwa!!

Love

Dear Family and Friends,
This week was AWESOME!! So many good things happened this week, there were just some awesome small miracles.

On Wednesday, we had an awesome lesson with B who was a former. We had a lesson at The G's house and the G's bore powerful testimony to her. The spirit was pretty strong, she said she would be baptized as well!! We will be working with her to get her there hopefully by the end of next month :) She already has quit smoking as well which is AWESOME.

On Thursday, we had an a really good lesson with this family that has been a potential family the whole time I have been here. It was the M family. The dad is full german and the wife is straight aussie. They let us in, and we were chatting, then we finally got to state our purpose clear, every other time we had been there in the past, something always districted either them or us to take us away from our purpose, and then we had a really good discussion with them on the Godhead. They all got really into it. We taught a little of the plan of salvation as well. The mother and son are both pretty keen and we will teach them this week!

On Friday we went to visit a recent convert/ less active. His name is D and he has been struggling ever since he was baptized. We had a really long talk with him, but then he told us about how he really is wanting to come back. Then out of nowhere, he told us that his Mom wants to be baptized! haha nice!

So we set up a time to see him and his mom, and we will be seeing them tonight at the H's! pretty pumped about that. Then later that night we went to the G's. Pretty nuts, I made the connection that I met sister G's daughter before I came on my mission. They did this perth culture night at my grandma Gaye's house before I left. haha I 've been in Sister G's ward for like 4 months and just now made that connection! Her son used to be the bishop in Merriwa ward.  Bishop K! haha crazy. Then we went to the S's and Brother S told us about how he felt like he just needed to start reading his scriptures again! nice! that family is making some awesome progress!

On Saturday we went to T's house. He's a less active that is making some awesome progress. We always just have really good discussions there. He told us that he prayed for the first time in YEARS, the night before. That was way cool. Then we talked to him about the Spirit, and then he shared with us a SUUUUUUPER spiritual experience that he had when he was young. Elder Tutton and I were blown away, after he told us about it, he was kind of teary eyed, and he told us that he wasn't going to drink that night! haha it was really cool though, and he ended up coming to church yesterday as well! nice!

After church on sunday we went with D to see H. We had a super duper spiritual lesson with him about the plan of salvation! D is soooo good as a ward missionary. He knows how to teach. We also visited this Cook Islander Fella after dinner last night, and had a good lesson with him. He is 85 years old and has read the book of Mormon 49  times! Such a saint.

> haha I feel like I missed writing about a lot of the miracles that happened this week, but overall this week was awesome!!

Dear family and friends,

What the week this has been. Madness. But it has been joyous as well. Good things are happening here in Merriwa.

We have had Elder Esterninos with us for the past week because of an interesting situation. He is awesome though. His testimony is so powerful and sincere. On Wednesday, we followed up with a former that Elder Matautia found a few months ago. Her name was N. We invited her to be baptized, and she said yes, but then we didnt' see her again after that. So we felt we should follow up on her again, and she was finally home!!

She was really excited for us to come back again as well. So that was a treat, then right after that we felt we needed to follow up with another former. His name is H he is from New way island ( that's not how you spell it but that's how it sounds ;) ) Any who, we were talking to him, and then he out of no where said, " have yous had a feed?" and we said no, then he said "meet me at Mackas in 15. " yeahhhh!! So we went to mackas ( Mcdonalds) and he bought us HEAPS  of food! like a full meal each and then 3 more burgers each.

But yeah we got to know him, and he told us about how missionaries used to come by, but they never actually taught him anything, they just came by because they knew that he would feed them! Pretty sad. We got talking and he told us that his dad passed away last year. He said he has had heaps of questions ever since his passing. He asked us a lot of them, and we answered him back by asking him questions. He was really intrigued. We told him about the plan of salvation. He said that he didn't believe it was heaven and hell right after death, he belived there was a waiting period. pretty cool! We told him he was right, and he was really intrigued after that! Anywho, we ended up going back on Sunday, yesterday, and he gave us some umu ( meat covered in banana leaves which cooks underground) and he said that he wanted us to come back later this week! Nice! He's the man!

That night we got a call from the assistants saying that Elder Matautia had to come to MLC with his  bags packed.... :( so sad. So Thursday we said a lot of goodbyes to members and things. We ended the night at M's house. The spirit was so strong!! N came as well, which was a miracle because we haven't been in contact with her for like 3 weeks! Anywho, we pretty much had a testimony meeting, it really wasn't planned though. It was so powerful because the two girls J, and S bore their testimonies about how they knew the church was true as well, even though their stepmom has been giving them anti stuff. It was just pure testimony, and even N bore her testimony about how the things we have taught her have blessed her life. Everyone was a little teary, partly because Elder matautia was leaving, but mostly because the spirit was so stong there.

On Friday morning we went to MLC and got our new companions. Elder Matautia ended up going down to my first area down towards canning vale to gosnells. and Elder Tutton the AP is now my companion. He is from the UK and this is his last transfer, which basically means I'll at least be in Merriwa until August, which I am pretty keen for! :)

Sunday was pretty crazy becauase we had to go to Elder Esterninos's ward as well in the morning. We went to Joondalup ward and Merriwa ward. It was great! We had to Skype at different times though because Elder Tutton's family is only 7 hours behind while mine is 14. so yeah lots of time at Hirini's house haha!

This week was pretty awesome besides how frantic everything was. I love being a missionary. I honestly do not want to be anywhere else right now. It's sooooooo good. I feel so happy as I try my best to share the gospel with everyone. I know that this is the most joyous thing to do. I loooove love love it :))

happy mothers day again to y'all :)
