Dear family and friends,
This week was madness! Lots of errand running with transfers and such, but there were some pretty cool things that happened this week!
So Elder Matautia and I were following up on some potentials in this suuuuuuuper rich cul-de-sac right on the coast that we tracted a few weeks back. No one was home. So we started to go up this hill to go see a less active. So we turned down this street as a truck passed us then pulled over. we were riding away from the truck, but then I got the impression that we needed to turn around, so we did. Then we got right up close to the truck, but then I'm pretty sure he saw us in his mirrors, so he pulled away. hahah dang it!
But then, right around the corner came this back packer. He looked pretty hard core, so we went up to him, and started talking to him. Turns out he walked up all the way from Fremantle to Quinns Rocks, and he was trying to get to Geraldton. Which is like a 4 hour drive up the coast. hahaha! but then when he saw that there were no more roads past Butler, he turned back, and that's where we found him. Quinns rocks to Fremantle is like 50 k's! He told us that he hadn't eaten since Sunday, ( it was Wednesday) so we walked with him and put his backpack on our bikes and went to the Less Active's house to go get him food.
His name was I, and he was from Cyprus the Island. We got to the Less Active's house and they made him some eggs on toast and gave us water ( it was 42 degrees that day ) that's like 109 degrees farenheit. Then we walked to the chapel and called up Brother K, and he came and just told I his life story, and bore very powerful testimony. Our new friend was in tears. Then we went to a petrol station, and got him enough money so he could catch the train back to Fremantle. We gave him a book of Mormon as well. He was the coolest guy though. He was super funny. Whenever we would take a break with him, he would take off his bandana, but then whenever he put it back on, he would be really funny again haha! I hope I see him again.
We also had some awesome progress with M and K this week as well! We were worried to teach them the word of Wisdom because M works at the Mc café at Mcdonalds, and K is a bar tender! haha But we taught it, and then M stopped us, and she said," I think this is a reason why people don't want to join the church, but its dumb that they don't just because of this commandment. It shows they don't have enough faith in God that he will give them the energy to help them do the right things." It was awesome! Then we taught the law of Chastity with the L's on Saturday night and all was well there too! so they are looking solid to being baptized on the 27th :))
Yesterday we found out that one of our investigators has been meeting with Bishop and that she wants to get baptized asap now! She and her daughter set their own date for baptism next month! can't wait for that! We also got to see M and her two daughters come to church, ( K went to the ysa sunday with one of the ysa leaders in the ward to dianella) and K and A came to church as well ( the ones that set their own baptismal date :) ) It was awesome to see so many people progressing!
On Saturday we had MLC at the mission home. Elder Oreardon came ( a member of the area 70) and we had a 3 hour discussion with him! Holy cowwwww!! it was amazing!!! he taught us how to teach by the spirit. I've learned this past week how important it is to teach by the spirit. I already knew why, but he just smashed it into us! We have to Observe, Listen, and discern. That's how you teach by the spirit! I can't wait to have more opportunities to apply that training!
Thank you family for the package for my birthday! haha I already opened it and loooooooooved everything in it! my companion loved the peachie-o's! hahaha I"ll send a video :))
love you all,
love, Elder Beeson
