Dear family and friends,
This week and a half has gone by incredibly quick! Elder Tua'itanu and I are both still trying to recover from the flu, but we've been working hard nonetheless! Apparently it is the coldest September on record here in perth. a chilly average of 15 degrees ;) hahaha. (I don't even know if that's the average, I'm just guessing)
A is doing soooooooooooo well! We've been teaching him from "The beginning" and it has been really good for him and even more for us, because we have to learn how to simplify things! haha we found out that his full first name is ********, so I'm going to call him that now, (tsh so much cooler ;)
We went to Canning Vale quite a bit this past week (my first area! they actually closed down the canning vale area, so we cover all of what I covered when I served in canning vale, and muuuuuuuuuch more :) ) We met this phillipino lady who wanted us to give her a book, so we gave her a book of Mormon in English and in tagolog, because I know from serving there that there are heaps of phillipinos there hahah!
We also went to Canning vale on 2 of the exchanges we went on this past week. On one of the exchanges, I was with Elder Daniels from Orlando, we were trying our best to follow the Spirit the whole day, and so we made a deal at the beginning of the exchange that we would act on every prompting, NO MATTER WHAT! and we prayed that we would be able to find those who have been following promptings without even knowing it. haha it was good though. our day ended up being soooo much different that we planned for. We ended up seeing this excommunicated dude, and it was actually really good, he was telling us about all of these experiences he had on his mission, and then at the end we asked him if there was anything we could do for him, and he told us that we could clean up the dog poo in the back yard, so we did!! haha I think he was testing our sincerity to serve. Later that day, we tried to see this chinese investigator that I've never met. We got there, but the lady in the carport told us that he wasn't home, but then Elder Daniels had the impression that we should go talk to the kid we passed while biking there who was playing basketball in the park. I tried to justify it because he looked like a young kid from far away, but we went, and started talking to this kid. he was 16 and had a huge tattoo on his leg, he is from NZ. He told us that earlier that day that he was just sitting on his bed, and that he felt like he should go play basketball, and he just said that he felt like he needed to come to the court he was at, instead of the other nicer courts that were closer to his house, so we told him the reason he felt like he needed to be at the court he was at, was because we had something to give him, so we gave him a book of Mormon, and promised him HEAPS of blessings if he read it! We talked with him for ages, and he had heaps of questions. Pretty much taught the whole plan of salvation, and he was getting so happy and excited. he even said the closing prayer when we left! it was awesome! we are going back to see him this weekend :)
We also went to canning vale on another exchange with Elder Otero. We biked ALL DAY in the rain! haha it was fun though, because he shouted NANDOS!!!!!! I will bike in the rain all day for nandos. ;) anywho, we tried to see this former that was suuuuuper duper keen back when I served there, and we got there, but this indian dude in a wheel chair answered the door. ( haha definitely not the guy I knew) but he told us that he was in the middle of playing piano when we knocked, then I told him I play piano, and then we asked if he could play for us, so he let us in, and then told me to play, and so I did, and after I played he said that I'm too good, and so he didn't end up playing for us! haha. but then his friend came in and then made us some tea, which we had to awkwardly reject, and then he made us coffee, and we had to reject that as well!! hahahahahhaa. then he just came out with milk ( third time is the charm) all the while, we were talking with S( the wheelchaired indian) He pretty much believes in absolutely everything we do, EXCEPT his idea of who God is, is pretty warped. ) he was pretty pumped when we pulled out the book of Mormon, he said he would read the whole thing! hah! and then at the end he said that he will drop everything and follow this "path" if he comes to know if it is true. Miracle!! it was awesome.
but yeah, this week was awesome, Elder Tua'itanu and I still haven't had a normal morning yet, where we just go out and tract, but it will come one day! hahah ;)
Love yous
